Well the Rangers lost their first series since the White Sox series at the end
of July. After losing the first 2 games in a series at the end of July against the Angels they won the third game in a dramatic overtime and the fourth game.
They came to the Bronx hot as can be going 8-3 in August and looking like they were heating up at the right time possibly. But the New York Yankees, who they are competing with for 1st place in the American League, brought that to a screeching halt. They’ve won the first 3 games of this series and are having their way with the Rangers.
The silver lining is that Josh hit two home runs and has increased his home run total to 34 this season, eclipsing his previous career high of 32.
Over the past 7 days Josh Hamilton is batting .368 and has hit 4 home runs and has 6 RBI’s. Unfortunately the rest of the Rangers’ offense is cooling off at this time, and his pitchers giving up 8 runs make it difficult. Josh however was unsatisified with his leadoff at-bat in the top of the 9th.
“The last at-bat, I felt good. But I got a little too big as the at-bat went on. So, [there are] things to still improve on,” Hamilton said. “I felt better, but I still have to improve on things.”
Home field advantage might be a big thing in the ALCS if they face the Yankees and the Rangers look to be losing the opportunity to win that. They already have to overcome being the away team in the World Series if they make it there.
“It’s going to be fun,” Josh Hamilton said reinforcing that he isn’t concerned. “We’ll pick it up here soon.”
Scary stat if the Rangers face NYY in the ALCS, the Rangers have a .199 batting average (37-for-186) against the Yankees this season.
Derek Holland faces the Yankees today… and he is 0-5 against the Yankees.
