Tuesday Dallas
Cowboys inside linebacker Sean Lee took a group of children from the Boys and Girls Club to a Dallas area Dick's Sporting Goods and helped them pick out school supplies. He also took a few moments to field questions from myself and other Dallas area reporters. This comes on the heels of Tony Romo's comments about how he was looking forward to the season, and Sean Lee is excited as well.
Lee joked with reporters that while he couldn't report to camp just yet like rookies, quarterbacks and injured players, he'd be working out at the facility and watching some tape.
“It’s always good to get an extra read on your offense for training camp,” Lee joked about trying to get an upper hand on the offense in camp. However, Lee said the offseason was rough.
“You get a break, but as the season gets closer and closer, the more excited you get,” he said. “In July, as much as you want to rest, it’s tough to do it.”
And with a revamped defense Dallas is once again a trendy pick to succeed this season, but Lee isn't buying into the hype.
“We were a trendy pick two years ago, and we started 1-7,” he said. “That means nothing unless you put it on the field. We need to win games in the fourth quarter. We’ve got to be better on defense. More consistent. Making plays in two-minute situations. That’s what’s going to get us wins. When it comes to preseason picks, it doesn’t matter until you put it on the field and get wins.”
When he does report to camp he'll have free agent signing Dan Connor joining him at inside linebacker. Connor hasn't been able to participate in OTA's and veteran mini-camp as he recovers from off season shoulder surgery, but Lee says he
