Well the Mavs have dropped the first two games in the playoff series against I-35 foe, and rival Oklahoma City Thunder. And by dropped, I mean literally dropped, they had an opportunity to win both games in Oklahoma City and come back to Dallas ahead 2-0, or even with a 1-1 split.
I had originally picked Dallas to win games 1, 3, 4, and 7 obviously winning in 7 games. I still stand by my prediction. I choose the Mavs to win game one because they were essentially getting a pretty solid week of rest, with only one game (which they essentially conceded by limiting players to 20 mins and resting Kidd) in that week leading up to the playoffs.
With that said, my theory in part worked, the Mavericks lost due to a “lucky shot” from Kevin Durant at the end of game 1 to missing 2 attempts to tie game 2 at the end.
I have been telling people who ask me about the Mavs being one and done in the playoffs that I strongly disagree. We all watched how long it took Dallas to get over their own rival in the San Antonio Spurs, and I think the Mavs still hold the mental edge over Oklahoma City.
It’s hard to beat your “big brother.”
With that said, I still think the Dallas Mavericks win games 3 and 4 in Dallas. I will amend my playoff prediction saying that Mavs will win game 6 in Dallas and then game 7 in OKC.
The Mavericks have today and tomorrow off before Thursdays game 3, so that’s another 2 days of rest, and then Saturday’s game 4 on one days rest, both in Dallas. So I think this 2 days rest will allow the Mavs to rest up, give Delonte West time to get healthy, who tweeted pictures of his vomit.
They can then get two games at home, but game 5 (Monday in OKC) after playing two games one on night rest and then traveling to OKC will be the one they drop. Then it’s two days off before game 6 (Thursday in Dallas) which they’ll win and a Saturday game back in OKC for game 7, which the Mavs will win to clinch the series.
That’s my prediction and I’m sticking to it!

Nice try. We saw what Dallas is capable and incapable of in these two games. They are still competitive even with the departure of Ty Chandler and JJ Barea. These two teams are evenly matched. But the OKC kids have grown stronger- mentally. They now have the composure to close out games. Apparently, the Mavs are the ones collapsing in end game situations.Westbrook will continue to rape and beat his guard off the dribble.KD has just finished warming up. The NBA’s leading scorer won’t go 5-17 again and would torch and scorch the Mavs in game 3.
Be very afraid Mavs fans!:-)
Yes, the OKC thunder are mentally tougher then before. But they don’t have the mental toughness still of Dallas, they still are a young team. Derek Fisher was add, to add mental toughness to a team that lacks it, think about it. The Mavs lost those two games, OKC did not win it, and OKC knows how close they were to being down 0-2 to Dallas so they probably aren’t as confident cocky as your are sir. The Mavs have “collapsed” but sometimes thats just how the basketball gods go, last year things went the Mavs way. This series will head back to OKC tied at 2. Delonte West will be healthier Thursday so you’re Russell Westbrook comment is stupid. Westbrook is quite possibly their weakest link. And the NBA’s leading scorer still couldn’t get past the Mavs last year.
And I think despite losing those two games, the Mavs should feel confident because they lost them. OKC didn’t win them.
