Roger Goodell suspended New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton and he has discussed having his former boss and mentor, legend Bill Parcells fill in for him in his absence.

Sean Payton is supposedly pondering appealing his stiff sentence.

One interesting scenario in this situation is that taking over for a good team is attractive, Parcells is amongst 10 finalists for induction into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. That would be postponed for another 5 years if Parcells took the job.

If Payton did appeal and get a reduced suspension chances are he wouldn’t bring in Parcells if he was returning at any point during the season.
